Frequently Asked Questions
Leadership Coaching
-
I work with leaders at all stages of their careers, from those stepping into leadership for the first time to experienced executives leading organisations through change and complexity.
-
Leadership coaching can support:
Leading through organisational change
Strategic decision-making
Building confidence and leadership presence
Managing complex relationships
Difficult conversations
Role transitions
Developing reflective leadership practice
Avoiding burnout and maintaining perspective
-
No.
My role is to help you think strategically, explore options and develop confidence in your own judgement—not to make decisions on your behalf.
About Coaching
-
Coaching is a structured conversation that helps you think more clearly, explore different perspectives and move forward with greater confidence and intention.
Rather than giving advice, coaching helps you develop your own understanding, make informed decisions and take meaningful action.
-
Consultants typically offer expert recommendations. Mentors often draw on their own experience to provide guidance.
As a coach, my role is different. I work as a trusted thinking partner and critical friend—helping you explore your own thinking, recognise patterns, challenge assumptions and develop solutions that fit your context.
Where appropriate, I may draw on my leadership experience, but coaching remains centred on your agenda rather than mine.
-
A critical friend is someone who offers both support and thoughtful challenge.
I'll listen carefully, ask questions that encourage deeper reflection, notice patterns you may not yet have recognised and help you explore difficult issues safely and constructively.
The aim is never to criticise, but to help you think more deeply and make more intentional choices.
-
No.
Some people come with a clear objective, while others simply know that something needs to change. Together we'll explore your current situation and identify what matters most.
-
Yes.
Everything discussed during coaching remains confidential, except where there is a legal or ethical duty of care, which would always be discussed openly if relevant.
Getting Started
-
Coaching can be valuable if you're looking for space to think, gain clarity, navigate change, make an important decision or explore what's keeping you stuck. You don't need to have everything worked out before you begin. Often, the first conversation is simply about understanding what's happening and whether coaching feels like the right next step.
-
Our introductory conversation is an opportunity to get to know one another.
We'll talk about what's bringing you to coaching, what you'd like to explore, and what you hope might be different. I'll explain how I work, answer any questions and together we'll decide whether we're the right fit.
There is no obligation to continue.
-
The relationship between coach and client is one of the most important factors in successful coaching.
The introductory conversation gives you the opportunity to experience my approach, ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Team Development
-
Every team is different, so there isn't a standard programme.
Together we'll identify what your team needs, which may include facilitated conversations, workshops, reflective sessions, leadership support or ongoing development.
Everything is tailored to your context.
-
Yes.
I work with leadership teams, project teams and established teams across a range of organisations.
-
Absolutely.
Many teams seek support because they want to strengthen relationships, improve communication or navigate change before difficulties become significant.
Development isn't only about solving problems—it's about helping good teams become even more effective.
Organisations
-
Yes.
I work with organisations to provide coaching for individuals, leadership coaching and bespoke team development.
-
Always.
Every organisation has its own culture, challenges and priorities, so all coaching and development is designed around your context rather than delivered as an off-the-shelf package.

-
I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding.
By recognising the patterns shaping our thoughts, relationships and ways of working, we create opportunities to make more intentional choices, think strategically and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My role is to provide a safe, reflective space where those conversations can happen—offering both support and thoughtful challenge as a trusted critical friend.
